P(Aᶜ)=1-P(A). P(A∪B)=P(A)+P(B)-P(A∩B). Mutually exclusive events have empty intersection. Independent events satisfy P(A∩B)=P(A)P(B); neither changes the probability of the other. Events of positive probability cannot be both disjoint and independent. Use disjointness for an addition simplification and independence for a multiplication simplification.
