The supplement revisits simple random, stratified, cluster, systematic and multistage probability sampling. Probability designs give units known selection probabilities; equal probabilities are not required in every probability design. Nonprobability designs listed include convenience, quota, purposive and snowball sampling. A sampling frame is the list or operational structure from which units are selected; incomplete coverage is a source of bias.
