With group sizes nj, group means mj, grand mean m and N total observations: SSB=∑nj(mj-m)²; SSE=∑∑(xij-mj)²; SST=SSB+SSE. Degrees of freedom are k-1, N-k and N-1. MSB=SSB/(k-1), MSE=SSE/(N-k), and F=MSB/MSE. Correction-factor form: CF=G²/N, SST=∑x²-CF, SSB=∑Tj²/nj-CF. Post-hoc procedures such as Tukey compare pairs while addressing multiplicity. Two-way and block designs require additional terms; rows and columns alone do not define the design.
